What are the alternatives to wooden kennels? How are we going to stop our dogs from chewing the kennel? How do we house all our dogs in one place while we’re out at work? How do we stop the dog from wrecking the house?......
These questions and more were what we found ourselves asking each other a couple of years ago. It was costing us a fortune in wooden kennels, our Staffy (Henry) found great pleasure in chewing up wooden and plastic kennels, he even ended up with splinters and a metal staple stuck in his mouth!!! Our eldest Bulldog (Benjamin) refused point blank to go inside the kennels we had – even when it was raining!!!!!! And with 3 dogs in total the lawn was almost non-existent with unsightly patches. What can we do?!?!?!
A bricklayer by trade, and an experienced site manager for a housing company, Julian designed a brick kennel to suit our dogs, in the hope of solving all these problems, and it worked perfectly. A miniature house in the back garden, set up for the dogs to shelter in whilst we were at work.
We’ve since moved house and as we now have 2 dogs, & 3 children to cater for! We certainly did not want to come home after a log day at work to find chewed up shoes & cushions or a mess where the boys needed to relieve themselves!! We also wanted a garden that both the dogs & the children could enjoy! So, we created our boys their own enclosed area complete with gravel, slabbed path, iron railings and even a lamp post! This now means we have a nice clean lawn area for the children to play on & no worries about any mess in the house!
Our dogs reside in their justkennel whilst we are out at work, and then are inside with us when we’re home – it’s hard to tell which they prefer! It has certainly improved their standard of living!
It’s a fabulous idea for new dog owners too, those with puppies who as we all know just love to chew, scratch and destroy pretty much everything in their path! When you introduce a dog (old or young) to its new home, it needs to know its boundaries, where it can and can’t go – with a justkennel your dog has its own personal space, which makes it feel safe and secure, and saves you on all those repair & cleaning bills!
Easy to clean and maintain - a justkennel has to be the answer! Such a simple idea, so versatile and cost effective, and it’s a great addition to the garden.
